CYTOTECHNOLOGIST JOB SUMMARY: CYTOLOGY TECH, CYTO TECH

Prepares, processes and performs initial microscopic examinations of human body fluids and products, i.e. blood, scraping and exudates, in order to detect evidence of cancer and/or other pathologist abnormalities. Performs related clerical duties, including maintenance of cytology slides and cellular interpretation files; inventories, and requisitions cytology supplies. Performs and maintains cytology Quality Assurance activities. Performs all moderate and highly complex clinical procedures utilizing sophisticated instrumentation to prepare and screen all cytologic material. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Charge Cytotechnologist, AP General Specialist, Laboratory Medical Director, and Laboratory Site Director.

CYTOTECHNOLOGIST EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

BS/BA require. Graduation from approved School of Cytotechnology. CT/SCT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
