Deaconess IL Specialty Clinic Gastroenterology Outreach - Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant; F-T 80 hrs./pay
Deaconess IL Specialty Clinic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, to join our busy Gastroenterology practice. The APP will primarily be based in our Marion, IL office and will also provide support to various small critical access clinics in the surrounding areas. This is a full-time position Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM,
As an APP in our gastroenterology department, you will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with gastrointestinal conditions. The successful candidate will be proficient in performing patient assessments, diagnosing, and treating various GI disorders, while delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in both the office setting and at critical access clinics, including assessing, diagnosing, and treating gastrointestinal conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, imaging), and develop treatment plans.
- Collaborate with gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to manage patients with conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and liver disease.
- Provide education to patients and their families on lifestyle modifications, treatment options, and disease prevention.
- Manage follow-up care and monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Document patient interactions and treatments in the electronic health record (EPIC) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions to optimize patient care.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and quality standards.
- Provide support to other small critical access clinics in the area, traveling as needed.
- Participate in continuous learning and professional development opportunities to stay current with advancements in gastroenterology.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Illinois.
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in gastroenterology or related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of gastrointestinal conditions and treatments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage a busy patient load and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
- Current BLS/ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to local critical access clinics.

Rate range: $108k-$130K
