Sterling Medical is currently looking for
Medical Coders
On-Site at Naval Medical Center,San Diego, CA
Great Pay, 2 Weeks PTO, 11 Paid Federal Holidays
THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION
Qualifications:
Education:
A minimum of one of the following:
- Associate's Degree in health information management
OR
- a university certificate for medical coding
OR
- at least 30 semester hours university/college credit that includes relevant coursework such as anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, health information management and/or pharmacology.
Experience:
A minimum of (8) Eight years of medical coding experience and/or auditing experience in two or more specialties medical, surgical and ancilliary specialties.
A minimum of (1) one year of performance in the specialty is required to be qualifying
AND
four (4) years of experience in a training role (training auditors, coders, and/or providers) within the last eight (8) years is required
OR
three (3) years training experience within the last (5) five years in a military coding environment.
Must have working knowledge of ICD codes, (CPT) Current Procedural Terminology, and(E&M) Evaluation and Management codes.
Coding Certification:
The following are recognized certifications just to name a few, with appropriate level of experience:
CCS-Certified Coding Specialist
CCS-(P), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician
CPC-Certified Professional Coder
CIC-Certified Inpatient Coder
COC-Certified Outpatient Coder
CPMA-Certified Professional Medical Auditor
or
Registered Health information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) are also acceptable, eligible or certified
Any Credentials from AAPC or AHIMA are also acceptable. MUST be certified to be considered for the position.
