POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Teacher is part of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) team. The ORR Lead Teacher teaches one or more subjects and provides leadership, direction, and sound decision-making and judgment in the classroom in compliance with agency policies and procedures and established state and federal standards and requirements. The ORR Lead Teacher supervises Teacher Aides, modeling a high degree of confidentiality, professional and ethical standards. They work with their team to ensure the educational needs of all children are being met, by identifying student instructional needs and developing curricula and initiatives that align with CPLC and ORR expectations and current best practices. They are able to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English to various levels of internal and external stakeholders, including CPLC leadership and the Office of Refugee Resettlement. They may often travel to meet these needs.
The ORR Lead Teacher participates in service expansion planning, budget preparation and short- and long-term planning for the educational program as part of a multi-disciplinary team. They are responsible for reporting, resource management and program data needed to report to CPLC Health and Human Services management and ORR regarding program status and recommendations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field Preferred
- Bilingual/ESL certification
- At least 2 years teaching and supervising including a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
Other Requirements
- Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including First Aid, CPR and Emergency Behavior Intervention.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
- Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
- Pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
- Communicate effectively in English and Spanish both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Residential Services policies and procedures and Relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards.
