PATIENT CARE SUPERVISOR

The Patient Care Supervisor reports to the Director of Nursing and is accountable and responsible during a scheduled shift for managing and guiding the activities of the hospital including, but not limited to, staffing, concerns and issues, environment, patients, family members and visitors. Rounding on each floor is required with rounds documented electronically. Must be able to clinically participate in all components of the nursing process. Performs other job duties as needed.

Performance Qualifications

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
  • Provides leadership and serves as a role model for staff.
  • Performs unit and patient rounds on a continuous basis.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate changes in policy and procedures and other appropriate communication to staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to participate in department planning, decision making and policy formation
  • Demonstrates ability to hold staff accountable to organization mission and values.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and uses professional judgement to respond promptly with intervention when clinical changes occur and prevention of complications in patient in need of cardiac monitoring, stroke care, and medical-surgical care.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills required for each unit's population rendering professional nursing care including administering medication, starting IVs, venipuncture, restraint application and can perform both complex and routine treatments as ordered by physician.
  • Consistently follows patient care and JDH policy, procedures, and standards of care in preforming nursing duties and adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization i.e. customer service, safety, infection control and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to promote a culture of caring through compassionate care, tea work and courtesy in all interactions with customers, both internal and external.
  • Assists with discharges as appropriate.


Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing-preferred.

Work Experience:

Two to five years general nursing experience with demonstrated leadership required.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS


Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below

  • Basic Life Support
